Workplace Hand Injuries

This session will review the most common acute hand injuries in the workplace to include an overview of treatment plans in the acute setting and during recovery. It will also suggest ways to improve communication between providers and optimize care for the injured worker.

Subchondral Fractures of the Knee

Dr. Evans will explain the mechanisms that cause subchondral fractures particularly focusing on the role of pre-existing chondromalacia, meniscal tears, osteopenia/osteoporosis, and obesity, as far as predisposing patients to subchondral fractures. Additionally, he will discuss the complicating significance of pre-existing knee arthritis in the presence of a subchondral fracture, the proper imaging required to identify these fractures, and the appropriate treatment algorithms. Finally, Dr. Evans will outline criteria to assess when surgical treatment should be considered to restore function and decrease pain when non-surgical care has failed to do so.
