Using Safety Metrics to Create Leadership Engagement & Measure Success

Tuesday
9:00 – 10:00 am

Magnolia Ballrooms 10 & 11
Convention Level

Historically, safety metrics have tracked only one number: employee injuries and illnesses. Making matters worse, the measure used has been an abstract number that makes it difficult for management to relate to this metric. This narrow view of what losses impact an organization has led to a false sense of security and a limited view of what needs to be managed from a risk standpoint in any organization. This presentation will demonstrate how expanding the metrics to address the total scope of risks in an organization will expand the role of the risk or safety manager as well as focus control efforts on a wider range of considerations.
