One of the most complex and challenging risk management issues facing agents is managing the risk of their clients’ employees traveling or deployed away from the employer’s headquartered state. Most agents are unaware of the potentially catastrophic financial event that could arise from an employee injured out-of-state, if the risk has not been effectively managed. Few clear and specific rules exist, and case law varies significantly from state to state, so it is not surprising that agents are confused and struggle to find answers.
