Legal Issues Surrounding COVID-19 Claims

Tuesday
10:00 – 11:00 am

Magnolia Ballrooms 4 – 6
Convention Level

Ordinary diseases of life are not supposed to be compensable under many state workers’ compensation laws. However, that paradigm seems to have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic began two years ago. If COVID-19 can be compensable, why can’t influenza or even the common cold? Are the countless symptoms associated with Long Haul COVID-19 also compensable? The panel will address the legal requirements of compensability for diseases such as COVID-19, the compensability of related conditions and the practical issues involved in handling such claims.
