In this age of mediation online and/or by phone, there are challenges the mediator confronts: How do you facilitate a negotiation when one or more participants is not present in the mediation, either by Zoom or in person? How do you handle an attorney representing an absent plaintiff/ claimant/defendant who says he/she has authority to act on behalf of the missing participant?
