In this session, we will explore the importance of wellness as it relates to everyday performance at work. We will explore various theories of wellness and strategies to raise energy, attention, and strength daily. Specific attention will be given to the principle of “self-service.” To serve others you must first serve your own physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Several success stories of employee wellness programs developed at the Miami-Dade County Public Schools called, “Rebuilding Me,” will be discussed. This will be an energetic, lively discussion to start the 2017 Health Track on the right foot!

This session will detail the dual journey an injured worker must endure from the time of a workplace accident to wellness. In this innovative presentation, we will chronical the pathophysiology of a work-related injury and overlay the claims process to describe these two very different journeys. Throughout the presentation, we will alternate between the medical and claim processes that affect the claims direction, journey, and outcome.

Dr. Jorge Trujillo, named a Consumers' Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Physicians,” is a certified Medical Review Officer and a National Registry Certified Medical Examiner. Throughout his nearly 20 years of practice, Dr. Trujillo has gathered significant insight in the characteristics, qualities and attributes that help a patient on a path to recovery from an accident and/or surgery.

Dr. Trujillo and Dave will engage in a dialogue and conversation about the complex and often elusive attribute of resiliency in achieving wellness.
