Welcome

The Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation is proud to partner with WCI and offer a half-day session on Understanding the Importance of Business Financial Acumen. One of the primary reasons women are not promoted to senior positions is the lack of understanding and ownership of business financials. Research shows that possessing financial acumen is an area of need for both women and men for career advancement. Whether you are early in your career, mid-level management, or a senior leader, financial acumen is critical for your success. Join us to learn more about profit and loss statements, budgeting, and business performance metrics. Personal financial acumen is increasingly important for each of us. Like it or not, we all have more responsibility for our financial lives than any generation that came before us. We are excited that our keynote will be delivered by Jean Chatzky, NBC TODAY Show’s financial editor and award-winning personal finance journalist and author.

In addition to Jean Chatzky’s keynote on personal financial acumen, this session will feature workers’ compensation industry leaders addressing the importance of understanding business financial acumen.

Juris Master’s Degree Program Update

Speaker:
Erin O’Hara O’Connor
Dean and McKenzie Professor of Law
Florida State University, College of Law
Tallahassee, FL

The Dean of the Florida State University College of Law will present an update on the progress of the newly developed post-graduate Juris Master’s Degree program for non-lawyers. This cutting-edge Master’s Degree program allows for online attendance by students who cannot quit their jobs to obtain their Master’s Degree or attend educational classes at remote locations. First introduced to WCEC last year, the Dean will provide a “report card” on the progress of the program. Although the master’s degree program has many subject matter concentrations, this presentation will focus on legal risk management, H.R. compliance, and health care regulation.
